Youth Housing “Espegården” 3-4 storeys

Student Housing at Rødovre ice ring

Espegården is a socially sustainable housing concept built on active everyday communities.

We believe that together we can create homes – both for those with resources and for those facing difficult life situations.

The partnership behind Espegården works to make it easier for cities, citizens and housing organisations to welcome people on the margins of society into the community.

Light, simple and modular. Espegården is designed to be moved, relocated and combined into new housing types – from a small annex to a four‑storey housing block.

Espegården consists of 34 youth homes and 8 small family homes distributed across two cubes. They are developed for those who need an affordable place to live.

Each home has its own bathroom and kitchen.

The youth homes have one room, while the family homes have two rooms – both with a loft that supplements the compact floor area.

Residents also have access to a shared rooftop terrace and a communal ground‑floor space with a large

kitchen and laundry facilities.

Small, smart square metres are easier to build in dense urban areas, resulting in more affordable homes for people under financial pressure.

Together, we are rethinking a unique Danish tradition of high‑quality housing with social awareness.
