Youth Housing “Venligbolig+” 3-4 storeys

Student Housing at Solbjerg Cemetery, Frederiksberg

72 units with a buddy scheme for young refugees.

Venligbolig Plus is a socially sustainable housing concept built on active everyday friendships. We believe that together we can create homes – both for those with resources and for those facing challenges. The partnership behind Venligbolig Plus aims to make it easier for cities, citizens and housing organisations to welcome people on the margins of society into the community.

Light, simple and modular. Venligbolig Plus is designed to be moved, relocated and combined into new housing solutions – from a small annex to a four‑storey housing block.

Venligbolig Plus consists of 33 m² cubes that form the future home for two residents. They are designed for those who need an affordable home and who are motivated to make a positive difference for others. Here, everyday life is shared, neighbours help each other, and residents take part in an active community with their fellow housemates.

Each Venligbolig Plus unit consists of two rooms, a shared living kitchen, a bathroom and a private balcony. Residents also have access to a communal rooftop terrace and a shared space on the ground floor with a large kitchen and laundry facilities.

Small, smart square metres are easier to build in dense urban areas, resulting in more affordable homes for people under financial pressure. Together, we are rethinking a unique Danish tradition of high‑quality housing with social awareness.

In total, 74 residents live across three cubes, with half of them being young refugees – each paired with a Danish student as their “buddy”.
